Germany - Magdeburg to Minden

St Marien Abbey started out as a monastery built in the 11th century with extra sections and the towers added a century later. Over the centuries it has been renovated and in the 13th century it was dedicated to St Mary. Today it is the site of the Magdeburg Art Museum with large collections of books, sculptures and other exhibitions dating from medieval times right up to contemporary artwork.
